There are many advantages to using natural paint over the conventional sort. Although natural paint brands have varying degrees of natural materials (from environmentally friendly to vegan), the following is a general summary:

Renewable raw materials and materials that are found in plentiful supply are used in natural paints with little disruption to the ecosystem. Minimal ‘soft chemistry’ as opposed to ‘hard chemistry’ is used to process ingredients resulting in less energy used, less waste, and less pollution. The packaging used is also recyclable. Alternatively, petrochemical paints can produce between 10 and 30 tonnes of toxic waste for each tonne of paint created.

Conventional paint contributes to ‘Sick Building Syndrome’ which can have a negative impact on the productivity of a business. Natural paints are as non-toxic as possible and can improve the environment of a building. In addition, allergy and asthma sufferers benefit from the use of natural paints.

Finally, natural paint is competitively priced, has a pleasant scent, and equals or arguable exceeds the quality of conventional paint…so why would you use anything else?

The brands of natural paint available through the companies / websites to the left are as follows:

  • Aglaia

  • Aquamarijn

  • Auro

  • Biofa

  • Earthborn

  • Ecos

  • Holzweg
