Creative Environmental Networks (www.cen.org.uk) is a not-for-profit organisation delivering a range of services to engage householders, businesses and communities in environmental and social improvement. We have a long track record of successful project delivery in sustainable energy, fuel poverty, and other environmental areas. Founded in 1997, we now have over 40 staff members in London and the South East.

Community-focused projects REAL (Renewable Energy Action for London) Communities): a local authority partnership project to help community groups to access "beacon" renewable energy installations (the proposed Richmond turbine is part of this project). REAL Schools : as above but for schools, using the installation as a focus for environmental education. CEN has recently received funding for a 2-year project to develop the school programme further in southwestLondon. |
Household-focused projects Energy Efficiency Advice Centre (EEAC): CEN runs the local advice centre on behalf of the Energy Saving Trust. Trained energy advisers give impartial advice to householders in southwest London on how to save money and energy in their homes. Advisers also carry out local grant searches and refer clients to schemes for which they are eligible. The centre also has an outreach worker who can give presentations to community groups on how to save energy. Coldbusters: a scheme to install energy efficiency and heating systems into the homes of vulnerable people. The installations are free to eligible householders and are funded by a combination of local authority grant, supplier subsidy (i.e., the Energy Efficiency Commitment (EEC), which obliges energy suppliers to 'subsidise' domestic energy efficiency measures), bulk discount procurement and external funding from successful funding bids. Only installers from the CEN installer network are used. Energysmart: a scheme to install energy efficiency measures such as insulation into the homes of 'fuel-rich' householders (where people are not eligible for installations from Coldbusters or the government programme Warmfront). Householders receive up to 60% discount (funded through bulk purchase and supplier subsidy (EEC funding). As with Coldbusters, only installers from the CEN installer network are used. Sunrise: this discounted solar installation scheme offers householders a one-stop route to discounted solar hot water and solar PV systems, including impartial advice and full support in accessing government grants. Again, only CEN-approved installers are used. |
