WELCOME TO RICHMOND ENVIRONMENT NETWORK (REN) REN brings together the environmental and sustainability voluntary & community sector (groups, organisations & schools working on environmental projects) within the borough, promoting information about them, their activities and events while also providing a support and development role. In addition REN has its own projects and subgroups to increase environmental activity, biological diversity and sustainable thinking & practice in the borough. Our Environmental Forum (LA21) provides a platform for residents to engage into environmental debate on different topics, with presentations from expert speakers in the field. Recent forums have covered climate change and energy quotas, as well as an environmental hustings for those running for the London Assembly Member for South West London constituancy in the upcoming GLA elections. Our ZWIN (Zero Waste Initiative) project can help your business, voluntary & community group or school reduce costs by developing sound environmental policies and practices aimed at the reduction of waste and the improved use of resources. Organisations and schools have found the service invaluable as well as a good motivator for staff and an educational tool for students. We provide support for local environmental sustainability organisations and groups to achieve their goals and develop their resources (in terms of volunteers, skills, funding, governance and representation to statutory bodies). We organise the Environmental Groups Forum to share good practice and provide a networking opportunity between local groups. We also provide similar support for environmental projects in local schools and organise the Schools Environment Forum to share good practice and provide a networking opportunity, whilst introducing local practitioners who can support schools.
